About the stones: Amethyst is the violet variety of quartz, colored by trace iron and natural irradiation, with southern Brazil and Uruguay its main sources and Zambia and Madagascar also major suppliers. Citrine is the yellow-to-orange variety of quartz colored by a trace of iron; natural citrine is rare, and most citrine on the market results from heat treatment of amethyst. On this ring the citrine appears in a slightly different color shade than the classic golden yellow. As raw, uncut stones, each ring varies slightly in shape and shade.
