This fine Honduran coffee is sweet and mild so it makes a good cup for drinking throughout the day. Tropical fruit and caramel leads to a sweet aftertaste with chocolatey aromas.
Marcala is a region in the west central area of Honduras, known for some of the highest quality coffees in that country. Our current offering comes from the company "Organic Coffee Marcala S.A. de CV" or COMSA, which is located in the Municipality of Marcala, Department of La Paz, Honduras, Central America.
We love to support small cooperatives. And COMSA with 316 members, 75 women and 231 men, is a great example of how the fair trade process can benefit farmers and their families. COMSA produces approximately 26,145 pounds of green coffee per crop and exports coffee with Fair Trade labels, Organic Biolatina Marcala and Designation of Origin (PDO).
The dark rich soil of the rainforest is loaded with nutrients from the naturally decaying vegetation that grows below and above the coffee. Fertilizer isn’t necessary to grow great coffee, and if it is needed, only natural fertilizer is used.
This makes Honduran coffee a great choice for those that seek organically produced coffees from sustainable farms.
