Lavender and Sage Smudge Bundle

Regular price $8.00

The Lavender and Sage Smudge Bundles for smoke cleansing* are carefully hand tied with the freshest herbs. Smoke cleansing is practiced by cultures all around the world and most notably here in America by Native Americans for spiritual rituals**

  • Lavender is known to have powers of protection and cleansing and to bring a positive energy, opens the heart chakra, calms the mind, releases fear while being effective at soothing the nervous system. Lavender has powers of protection and cleansing.
  • The use of Sage to cleanse a home is deeply rooted in Native American history. They used sage for many purposes, including healing, energy cleansing, to remove negative energy and ritual ceremonies. Historically, medicine people used sage cleansing on people who were ill, to bring them back from the negative space where their body and soul resided at that point. Today, Native Americans use it in sage cleansing ceremonies for those who are seeking balance and pure thoughts.

Directions: Light the end of a bundle so it catches fire. Extinguish the fire and let it billow from the stick slowly. Walk around your space allowing smoke to enter each area (even cupboards!). Use a ceramic or glass bowl to catch any ashes and as always use caution when working with flames.

While smudging I recommend opening windows to invite positive energy in and let negative energy out!

*Please make sure that a smudge stick is COMPLETELY out before leaving the area unattended

Each bundle approximately 4" long.

**Read more about Smudging on Wikipedia: The smudging ceremony, by various names, has been appropriated by others outside of the Indigenous communities as part of New Age or commercial practices. Some of the terminology in use among non-Indigenous people, such as the American English term "smudge stick" is usually found in use among those who imitate what they believe are Native American sacred ceremonies. However, the herbs used in commercial "smudge sticks" or "sage bundles," and the rituals performed with them by non-Natives, are rarely the actual materials or ceremonies used by traditional Native Americans. Use of these objects have also been adopted in some forms into a number of modern belief systems, including many forms of New Age and eclectic Neopagan spirituality. This has been protested against by Native activists as a form of cultural misappropriation, and care is needed to distinguish smudging from other practices involving smoke.
