The Mosquito & Bug Repellant Spray contains catnip essential oil which is a plant in the mint family that contains nepetalactone, a potent chemical compound that is known to be effective in repelling certain insects, including mosquitoes.

This makes catnip an ideal ingredient for natural bug sprays. In fact, studies have shown that catnip oil is about ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET, the active ingredient in many commercial insect repellents. 

Interestingly, nepetalactone is also attractive to cats. When this substance is inhaled by felines, it causes them to experience a range of pleasurable sensations, including a sense of relaxation and playfulness.
